Question: What are the fees for the basic certificate?
Answer: California Community College fees are $26 per unit for residents but may increase slightly over time. Please refer to http://www.swccd.edu/Search/search.asp?q=tuition&image.x=28&image.y=7 for current fees.

Question: Who is eligible to apply for the program?
Answer: High School Graduates, persons who have obtained their GED, or persons over the age of 18 may apply for the program.  Foreign students are also eligible for admission.

Question: What type of job can I expect to obtain after finishing the basic certificate?
Answer: Southwestern College International Logistics and Transportation Basic Certificate prepares individuals for international trade related clerical and administrative positions and for trade related careers in warehousing, distribution, transportation, and inventory. The program focuses on logistics and transportation issues along the San Diego-Tijuana border region, but the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the curriculum also prepares students for careers at the national and/or international level. Specific job titles of graduates include:

Question: Are the classes for the Basic Certificate offered online?
Answer: Yes. All of the classes for the Basic Certificate are available online.

Question: How do I register for the basic or intermediate certificate or the associate of science degree?
Answer: Go to www.swccd.edu and click on “apply online” for more information and instructions. All new and returning students must submit an application and be admitted to the college before registering for classes. For students without Internet access, computer terminals are available on all Southwestern College campuses.

Answer: A hybrid class is mostly on-line, but may have one or more in class meetings and discussions?

Question: Where do in-class meetings and discussions take place?
Answer: All in class meetings and discussions take place at Southwestern College Otay Mesa Campus, 8100 Gigantic St., San Diego, CA 92154 or Southwestern College 900 Otay Lakes Road, Chula Vista, CA 91910

Question: Will the certificate prepare me to work in transportation and logistics pursuant to the border region only?
Answer: The program focuses on logistics and transportation issues along the San Diego-Tijuana border region, but the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the curriculum also prepares students for careers at the national and/or international level.

Answer: You can start the program in the Fall, Spring or Summer semester. Please see www.swccd.edu for specific application dates pursuant to each semester.

Answer: Yes, this certificate program is for everyone; however, higher fees are applicable for non-California residents.
